Client: Pride Houston

Format: Logo Design

Design: Client requested a logo designed around the theme “Houston Proud” for the 2016 Houston LGBT Pride Celebration. I developed mockups using imagery that invokes what makes Texas and more importantly Houston special. The display font I created was inspired by Houston’s western and cowboy roots while the other font reflects the modernity of Houston today. 

Color selection needed to use a range of colors to illustrate diversity not only for the LGBT Pride Celebration, but also to represent the great number of different cultures that reside in Houston. Although traditional colors of the rainbow are used in most LGBT logos, a palette that was reminiscent of traditional colors yet having its own identity and remaining vibrant, colorful and playful creates a Celebration logo that stands out from the others.
